Keeping Your Health Simple!

Happy Monday!

I’m sorry about not getting an email out last week, but it was just one of those weeks that had a lot going on. It was busy in a great way and I just forgot to send the email.

Yesterday, I was coaching and watching my boys play in a flag football tournament all day long. We started the day at 8am and finished just about four. It was cold and windy, but it was an incredible day watching them compete and have fun. My older boy lost in the championship and my youngest lost in the semifinals.

Here is what I learned from the 5 on 5 tournament while coaching and while playing sports throughout my career. Keep it simple and don’t overcomplicate it.

When it is simple and easy to understand, the kids move faster. It takes away the overthinking and allows them to make plays and have fun. Keeping it simple allows for quicker adjustments during the game.

The same goes for your health. As I work with people from all different backgrounds and individuals who have tried everything under the sun, they come to me with question after question, which I absolutely love.

The one thing that constantly stands out with these questions is how difficult some people think it has to be to get healthy. How many macros do I need to eat? Can I eat carbs and how much? Is fruit ok? Can I each at this time or that time?

All great questions, but as we overthink getting healthy, we tend to move slowly and not take a whole lot of action. Then we don’t get the results we want and then we quit. But, if you can keep it simple, you find yourself with more freedom and it becomes easier to change your mindset and have fun in your journey towards a better you. Keeping with simple principles allows you to build faster in the long term and make adjustments as needed when life throws curveballs at you.

Keep it simple. Keep it fun. Keep it a lifestyle.
