Get Rid of Those Speed Bumps

Happy Monday!

The two most asked questions from this past week were:

1. Can I drink Alcohol on your plan?

2. Can I go out and eat?

The answer to both those questions is “YES.” But here is what I say behind that. Understand these two things. One, there is no such thing as healthy fast food/restaurant food. It is extremely difficult to find food that is not buttered down, over caloried up, and actually tastes good when it is done plain.

Second, when you drink alcohol your body must shut down to metabolise the alcohol differently than your food. So as you eat food, your body is trying to process the alcohol, which allows the food you’re eating to sit there and store.

As in anything, moderation is key. You want to keep both to a limit and not overdo it. Also, look at each time you drink or eat out as a road speed bump. You may be gaining momentum with your goals and decide to have a night of fun. Based on how much fun you have determines how big that speed bump is.

Do you have to slow the car down to a complete stop and restart to gain speed again? Do you just have to slow down a little which allows you to get back up to speed quickly?

Staying away from those two things for as long as you can will help you build up a lot of speed towards your goals. There is a difference between having a metabolism at 100mph and slowing down to 90mph versus one only being at 20mph to slow back down to 10mph.

The person going 100mph has a lot more energy and momentum, so when they do have that cheat meal or drink, their body will get rid of it quickly. Compare that to the person who constantly stops and starts. Their body has no momentum and will never see any results.

Be honest with yourself. Build some discipline and make health a choice.
